Review Council Tax Reduction/Support schemes to minimise the amount of tax paid by household with children in poverty. Reduce minimum payments for low-income and vulnerable residents in your Council Tax Reduction scheme to zero (or a minimum of 10% in the first instance) and end bailiff use against those in arrears.

Why?

Over the past eight years, Z2K in partnership with the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) has published a series of reports based upon information gleaned from Freedom of Information requests to the London Boroughs. Those responses have revealed that over 100,000 CTS claimants were in arrears with their new Council Tax bills in each of those years. As a result of grass-roots campaigning across London, 11 Boroughs now have a Council Tax Reduction Scheme that offers claimants full support.
