Setting up a poverty commission to listen to the experiences of those who are facing financial hardship.
In summer 2019, Enfield Council set up an independent commission to understand the causes of poverty and inequality in Enfield and to find local solutions. During the rest of the year, the commission reviewed data and engaged with residents and organisations through meetings, events, focus groups and interviews. The commission finished its work in December 2019 and made a series of recommendations they believe will help Enfield Council and local partner agencies address the issues of poverty and inequality in the borough. The final report of the Enfield Poverty and Inequality Commission was launched in January 2020.
